St. Boniface Catholic On the Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time, members of St. Boniface heard in the Gospel account of the announcement Jesus made in regards to His mission. And He made it known that there would be no compromise. Our Father has an abundance of peace and joy to bring us even though we sometimes find division and strife within our own families. It is unrealistic to expect a totally peaceful co-existence. But, we can expect and trust that Jesus is ALWAYS with us, working with us through our difficulties. Those who oppose God will be divided even among the strong bonds of family. Never be relunctant to speak up for the Gospel. We should dedicate ourselves to the Lord Jesus, no matter the cost. Fr. Jesse called us to reflect upon our status when it comes to resistance. Are we living the holy life God has called us to? Pray for one another so that we may be the shining lights of Christ. Following Mass, members enjoyed a delicious Mexican dinner plate. Thanks to everyone who made this fundraiser a success. We especially thank Dalia Earl and the wonderful kitchen help that provided the food. Thank you also, to the men and women of the parish that supported this fundraising event by your attendance. There will be a video presentation on August 22 at 7 p.m. on the Book of the Apocalypse. The Evangelization Apostolic Group will sponsor this interesting presentation. Please make plans to attend. One of the many ways St. Boniface members help to support our Church financially is the donation of aluminum cans. All proceeds from the sale of these cans go directly toward the up-keep and repair of our Church mowers. Thanks to the maintenance committee and especially Leroy Clary who keeps these old but faithful mowers running. There is an interesting article in the bulletin pertaining to a subject often neglected in our Church. Tithing is part of God's plan for the continued existence of His Church on earth. There is nothing new about it ... and it should be a part of every Christian lifestyle. Support of our church and the poor should not be done by a few or from surplus, but fairly by all members according to their means. Please be mindful of this Biblical standard and do your part to support our Parish. Congratulations and best wishes to all who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries this week. Please pray for those who are sick and suffering. Remember the faithful departed. May they rest in peace with our Lord. We continue to pray for the men and women of the armed services who are protecting our freedom each and every day. Have a Blessed week! |
