Union Hill Baptist
by Mickey Bigbie

How many of us learned, when we were very small, the Bible verse John 3:16 and for most of us it has stuck in our minds like glue. Yet, sometimes we forget just how much God does love us. How can that be? Brother Bill's sermon Sunday, "The Love of God" was based on that very familiar Bible verse along with the following verse, John 3:17.

We just last week talked about not just "talking the talk" but "walking the walk" and at the end of the wonderful message Sunday, Brother Bill reminded us that it should always be written all over us that we are Christians and live to serve Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. It was a tremendous message and you could feel God's presence throughout the service.

Always Brother Bill's message stays with you throughout the week, but sometimes it absolutely thunders in your ears every minute of your day! The words evade me to describe it. Hope you were there to hear it for yourself. The super Sunday was concluded with an ice cream social in fellowship hall following the evening service. Sometimes your day is just so extra special. Sunday was one of those.

Next Sunday, the 26th, after the evening service the youth are scheduled to go out to dinner to celebrate the beginning of another school year. That beginning is here now.

You know how it is during the first few days of school. Little ones are excited and not always paying attention to the movement of cars around the schools as parents let their kids out, so we need to be doubly alert! Let's all pray for our children as they begin a new year and let's not forget our teachers too.

Remember also, that Kingdom Kare will also be starting another year at Union Hill, beginning Tuesday, the 28th. For enrollment information, you may call the church at 903-852-5043.

In case some of you missed the services Sunday, let me pass along some important information from our bulletin. Discipleship Training classes will be starting on Sunday, September 9th at 5:00 p.m. This training, entitled "The Survival Kit Series" is available for everyone from age 7 through 107 years! Come grow in your relationship with the Lord. Sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board.

I promised you more info on the big Biker Fest coming up Saturday, September 8th, so here it is. First of all, you can come out and enjoy the fun whether you are a biker or not. For those of you not familiar with Union Hill Baptist, it is located two miles east of Brownsboro on FM 3204. Biker Fest starts at 10:00 a.m. and if it's like the last two, it's going to be a great day!

The praise and worship service will begin with the praise group from Dayton, Texas and will be followed by Evangelist Calvin Tucker (better known to all as "Pop") who will bring the message. Then comes the bike show and games that mean lots and lots of fun. You are in for a thrill when these dedicated "Riders for Jesus" come to town on the big, loud machines, making lots of noise, but sweet noise it is. It gets your attention and that's exactly what these riders are after, getting your attention for Jesus! Come out and be a part of a unique day of fellowship. You'll be surprised at the blessing you will receive.

Time to go again. Time goes by so quickly when we're visiting. Think back over your day today. How did each person you encountered today see you? Could they tell at a glance that Jesus Christ is the Lord of your life? Hmmmm, are you sure? See you on the hill.
