Benefit for veteran Wednesday night
By Richard Prather LPUMC Pastor

Lake Palestine United Methodist Church is offering a benefit dinner on behalf of Tracy Whisenhunt, a 37-year old Gulf War vet, having served for 4 years.

Tracy is currently off work due to an unidentifiable illness most likely related to her duty in the Gulf War. Tracy is the mother of two children (15-year old son and 8 year old daughter) and has not been allowed to work for over three months.

Tracy has a heart that reaches out to others frequently. Several times she has taken in families of 4 or 5 people to help them along until they were able to get back their feet.

She has willingly provided airfare for someone needing to make an urgent appointment but unable to pay for a ticket. She has a heart of gold and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. But now she is the one facing eviction and repossession.

Because the Veterans Administration has been unable to make a specific diagnosis of the illness, disability insurance cannot begin.

As many know by personal experience, when employment is blocked for three months, the bills do not stop! That is why Lake Palestine United Methodist Church wants to lend as much a helping hand as we can.

A chicken spaghetti dinner ($6 per plate) will be served at Lake Palestine United Methodist Church on Wednesday, August 29th, from 6 to 8 PM.

In order to insure that enough food is prepared, ordering tickets is encouraged. Tickets may be obtained by calling the church office at 903-849-2379 or Martha Different at 903-849- 4600. We look forward to seeing you there!
