St. Boniface Catholic
by Sue Beams

On the Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time, the members of St. Boniface were reminded that while the gate to salvation is narrow and often at times difficult, ALL those who are known by Jesus will get through it.

In his homily, Fr. Jesse shared that while Jesus is full of love and mercy and understands our human weakness, Jesus pointblankly reminds us that some are saved and others are not. Jesus is clear about the judgement we will receive. He says that some may be surprised!

Jesus doesn't `sugar-coat' the fact that once the gate is shut, it will not be opened again. What is our response? What can we do? Be certain that we have entered into the narrow door. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to us our shortcomings and right them! Jesus came to be sure all people had a chance to enter the kingdom. Once we are safe in God's stronghold, He will not shut the door to us. Not only get ... STAY in!! If we abide in Christ, we need never fear.

Members enjoyed refreshments in the newly painted community room. It looks so nice. Thank you to the `crews' that prepped the wall, painted, cleaned up and redecorated. It was a big job. Thank you so much to everyone who lent a helping hand to this project.

Reminder: the daily Mass schedule is as follows: Tuesday - 6:00 pm; Wednesday thru Friday - 9:00 a.m. CCD classes will resume on Sept. 9th. To register your child(ren) please contact Iris Mamo. Adult Faith Formation classes will begin in September. Watch the bulletin for more details.

The next fundraising project will be a yard sale on Sept. 14 and 15, on the church grounds. Please bring your marked items to the church. Contact Dalia Earl for more information.

Congratulations and best wishes to all those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. We continue to pray for the sick and suffering, that the healing hand of Jesus will bring comfort. Remember the souls of the faithful departed, may they rest in peace. Please pray for the men and women in the armed services. May Almighty God shelter them in his loving protection as they serve to protect our freedom.
