Chandler Pow Wow plans announced

It's time to get in swing of sports, fairs, fall celebrations, and cooler weather by entering into the fun and excitement as area organizations and businesses gear up for this year's annual Parade and Pow Wow to be held Saturday, October 13, in Winchester Park on Hwy 315 South.

The Pow Wow parade is a highlight of the Chandler/ Brownsboro and East Henderson County area, and this year's theme "We support our troops" will honor those who have served or are serving in any branch of the US military services. All veterans are invited to ride on a float or to participate in any way they prefer.

Festivities will open with the parade beginning at 10:00 am. Parade participants must be able to travel the mile route from the starting point at the intersection of Highways 315 and 31 to Winchester Park where the Pow Wow will offer a full day of family fun.

A patriotic theme is in order for this year's decorations. Past entries have included floats, marching or walking units, cars, trucks, motorcycles, four-wheelers, equestrians, clowns, dance and music groups, and costumed individuals. The only limitation is your imagination.

A Pow Wow Parade Application is requested for each group to assist in line-up management and in accommodating the number of parade participants. Applications have been mailed to prior participants, and anyone not receiving one may pick up an application and parade map at the Chandler-Brownsboro Area Chamber of Commerce in Chandler. For further parade information, contact Lion President Tom Martin at 903-849- 7154.

Booth information and other activities for the day-long Pow Wow includes arts and crafts, food booths, or games on the Winchester Park grounds. Reserve your booth space now by contacting the Chandler-Brownsboro Area Chamber of Commerce at 903-849-5930.

Come join your friends and neighbors for a day of fun for all ages.
