Cain Center announces fall programs

Fall at Cain Center is bursting with activity. Opportunities abound for all ages. Registration is going on now for current and upcoming classes and programs.

Parents now have a safe, structured option for After- School care for students at South, Bel Air and Intermediate schools in the AISD. Students may ride AISD buses from their campus to the Intermediate School Gym, where the After School program is being held this year. Games, homework help and snacks will be available from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Counselors will be on hand to help with homework and lead kids in games.

Sports programs include both Flag and Contact Football and Cheerleading for youths. While the Football teams are on the field, the Cheerleaders will be on the sidelines, raising spirits, rooting for the `home' team.

Area registration for the football and cheerleading will take place this Saturday, Sept 1 from 9am-noon at Brookshires in Chandler and 1st State Bank of Brownsboro.

Flag football is for ages 5-6 and 7-8 and costs $50. Tackle football is broke into 2 ages groups as well, 8-9 and 10-12 and costs $70. Cheerleading is open for girls ages 5-12 and it costs $50.

For really small sports enthusiasts, there is Bitty Sports Camp. This is an opportunity for the little ones to learn the basics of all their favorite sports, have fun and run off some of that excess energy they seem to have in abundance.

The United Way Kid's PACE Express will be starting Fall classes soon, as well. Kids have their own kid-sized Circuit Training Equipment, a Traverse Climbing Wall, and interactive video games, including Nintendos Wii and the popular Dance, Dance Revolution. The kids can get fit, have fun and do it all in the Kid's `Gym' while their parents work-out in their own adult space.

Summer may be over but there is still swimming going on at Cain Center. Henderson County Megladon Swim, a competitive Swim Club resumes mid-September. Swimmers age through 18 are encouraged to join. This is a great way for young swimmers to perfect their strokes and compete at their own level of ability. Swimmers from all over Henderson County, and beyond, are welcome. Ongoing Swim Lessons, both private and group, are also available throughout the Fall.

For the more mature, Co-ed Softball continues into Fall. There will also be Adult Flag Football, Basketball and Volleyball Leagues.

Fall classes are forming now for Lifeguard Training, First Aid/CPR and Babysitting. Cain Center is the Henderson County presence for the American Red Cross.

Ongoing Cain Center classes include Water Aerobics, Aqua Action, Yoga, Fitness Plus and Silver Sneakers. Other activities held at Cain Center on an ongoing basis are Jazzercise and TaeKwonDo.

For further information, including times and costs, for classes, programs and leagues call Cain Center Activities Coordinator, Kathleen Lilly at 903-677-2000, Ext. 226.
