Union Hill Baptist
Mickey Bigbie

Sunday found the congregation at Union Hill blessed by a strong sermon from Brother Bill, as he pulled no punches when asking, "Where will you spend eternity?" Taking his sermon from John 3:14-17, his message from God's Word was a good old fashioned, straight from the shoulder warning . . . we have two choices of where we will spend eternity, in the Kingdom of Almighty God or in hell. It was a powerful message, emphasizing the urgency of making that decision before it's too late. As a prelude to the great sermon, Brother Tom Atwell led the praise portion of the service, with old, favorite praise songs. The visiting Brother Tom and his lovely wife, Michelle were an added blessing. It was a super service. I know I tell you that each Sunday, and it's always true, but this one was exceptional!

Here are some opportunities in which we urge you to participate. These are not new opportunities but perhaps a reminder would be in order. You are invited to come pray with us. Our ladies prayer group meets every Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. For information, call 903-852-6140 or 903-849-4740. The men's prayer group meets every Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. also in Fellowship Hall. For additional information, you men may call 903-849-2282 or 849-4740.

There is still time to make plans to attend the Women's Renewal conference in Lufkin on September 14th and 15th. Registration is $15.00 per person. Better call Diana Morris today, if you are interested.

Discipleship Training classes are now underway at the Church, Sunday evenings at 5:00 p.m. Call the church at 903-852-5043 for more information.

The Wheels of Mercy, "Have Mercy Bike Fest" held Saturday was a great success. Categories in the Bike Show were Best American Bike, Best Metric, Best Custom and of course Best of Show. Each biker drew a number upon entering the Bike Fest. I will pursue matching winning numbers to names and have the winners of each class for you next week. The Bike Games are always a favorite among the visitors and this year was no exception. Winning twosome for the Balloon Toss was Rob and Stephnie Smith. Winner of the Ladies Carburetor Throw was Stephanie Smith and Steve Goodrich won the men's competition in the same category. Ray Moore won the Slow Race and winner of the Dart Throw was the team of "Catfish " and Michelle. The last game, the Ball and Cone competition was won by Rick and Amy. From all reports, it was a fun and a special day of fellowship.

The Wheels of Mercy is a strong ministry here at Union Hill, reaching out to those that the rest of us might not encounter. Last Sunday, our Sunday school lesson was taken in part from First Corinthians 9:19-23 and the message in those verses is exactly what these members of the biker's ministry are doing. Armed with God's Word, maybe we could take a lesson from them and dare to venture out of our own comfort zones to reach a lost soul out there, hungry to hear about our Savior. You never know who's waiting and you just might be the one who can reach them.

We have many ministries and many opportunities awaiting you here at Union Hill. I know we have just the place for you. We sincerely invite you to come, join us as we serve the Lord. See you on the hill.
