Christmas ideas discussed at Ben Wheeler Crafters meeting

Crafters met Thursday, September 6, 2007 and shared a wonderful, special meal and Show and Tell session. Joyce Tank had lots of crafting Christmas present ideas to share -- Kleenex box covers, grocery bag containers, crocheted and beaded Barbie Doll dress, kitchen hanging towel ideas, and more. Nancy Hrobar showed Quillows, Frogs and Fabric Bowls. Jo Pierce showed the Colfax Methodist Women's donation quilt. Rita Rhea showed potholders and dishcloths. Bea Austin showed off her jean purse.

A general planning meeting was held. Crafters voted to meet twice a month on the First and Third Thursdays. This change takes effect immediately and will continue until after the first of the year. There will be no meetings from Thanksgiving until January except for a Christmas Party to be announced later. The group now boasts 28 active members!

The first Thursday will be devoted to Quilting, Sewing, Crocheting and Knitting. Hostesses are Nancy Hrobar, 903-833-5329; Bobbie Hill, 903-833-2139; and Joyce Tank, 903-469-3375. The third Thursday will be devoted to Scrap Booking and General Crafting. Hostesses are Ginger Featherston, 903- 852-7775; DeeDee Stone, 903-833-5406; and Oma Baker, 903-852-6398.

Thursday, September 20th is Scrap Booking with Ginger. Crafters will be making an 8x8 album that will have 5 page protectors (makes a great gift). It will not take long to do the album, less than an hour. There is a $5.00 fee for supplies. Afterwards, Ginger will be available to help anyone with their own personal page layouts. She will have examples for inspiration. Bring adhesive, scissors and trimmer. Call Ginger Featherston at 903-852-7775 for other details. Bring a sack lunch and drink. Dessert will be provided.

Thursday, October 4, will be Sewing with Nancy. We will explore making fabric bowls. They make wonderful Christmas gifts. If you are interested, you need to call Nancy at 903-833-5329. This project requires special stabilizer that needs to be ordered. If you want to participate, please let her know by no later than Saturday, September 15th. Bring a sack lunch and drink.

Community Crafters now meet on the first and third Thursdays from 10am-3pm at the Ben Wheeler Methodist Church in downtown Ben Wheeler, next to the Fire Station on FM 858. There is a project or program planned for each meeting. However, if you don't wish to participate in the planned project, just bring anything you want to work on or need help with, and come and join in the fellowship and activities. Get ideas, finish those UFOs, make new friends, and be productive!

As always, we thank the members of the Ben Wheeler Methodist Church for giving us a place to meet. You are a blessing to us.
