Geneva Adams

Mrs. Geneva Adams of Malakoff passed away on September 4, 2007, at Cedar Lake Nursing Facility. She is survived by her husband, John of Malakoff; daughters, Mary Brown and husband Wayne of Athens, Brenda Clark and husband Tommy of Malakoff, and Debbie Parkins and husband Wyatt Sr. of Malakoff. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives.

Mrs. Adams services were held Thursday, Sept. 6 in the Gordon Foster Brown Chapel with interment in Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.

She was born in Corbett, Texas to W.J. and Mary Jane Morrison Barnett, August 2, 1923 and was one of 12 children. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Athens. Additionally she served in various aspects for many years at Crescent Heights Baptist Church.

She owned and operated one of the first daycares in the Malakoff area, serving the community's children where she became affectionately known as "Granny Adams." She was a very giving and caring person to all she met, and will be greatly missed, but fondly remembered.
