Bearettes open District 14-3A play with Bullard Tuesday

With several tournaments under their belt and many more regular games the Bearettes are ready to face off against District 14-3A opponents for a possible District title and playoff bid.

Brownsboro will open District 14-3A play on Tuesday, September 18 when the Bullard Lady Panthers come to town.

Last season Bullard and the Bearettes shared the District 14-3A title before the Bearettes were knocked out of the playoffs by Eustace.

The Bearettes graduated five players from last years team while Seniors Chelsea Chimney and Amber Strickland return to give the Bearettes some valuable experience.

Last Tuesday the Bearettes were swept in Lindale by the scores of 25-8, 25-7 and 25- 12 making their record on the season 7-7.

Amber Strickland totaled 31 assists in the loss while adding a block. Sabrina Bradley also had a block for Brownsboro while Chimney had one kills shot.

Brownsboro opened pool play in the Bearette Booster Volleyball Tournament losing to Alba Golden 15-12, 16-14.

In pool play Sabrina Bradley led the Bearettes with three kills and three blocks. Strickland had a 24 assist game while also recording two kills.

Hillary Shaffer had two blocks in the win against Kemp and one kills against Palestine.

The Bearettes rallied to finish third in their pool with a win over Kemp and a split with Palestine.

In tournament action the Bearettes lost 25-9, 25-14 to Chapel Hill before defeating Mildred 25-11, 25-16.

Chelsey Chimney had 3 kills against Mildred while Amber Strickland added 12 assists.

Canton was the Bearettes final opponent in the tournament and the Bearettes defeated the Eaglets 25-23 and 25-19.

Strickland had 10 assists while Hillary Shaffer added 2 kills. Chimney, Catie Collins and Naomi Scott each had a kill for Brownsboro.

After tournament action the Bearettes record on the season stands at 9-8 before Tuesday night's game against Kaufman in Brownsboro.

After opening District play with Bullard on Tuesday the Bearettes will play in their final non-district game of the season next Friday in Gilmer.
