THE GOOD OLD DAYS
Many times we may look back
Or even hear someone long
For the return of the "Good Old Days"
But they are really and truly gone.
There are several things that I do miss
About the days that have gone before.
Like the innocence of the time as a child,
When we rarely locked a door.
No one worried when we played,
Even if we were out of their sight.
We kids ran all over the neighborhood
Playing outside till bedtime at night.
But there are many more conveniences now
Like food in easy opening cans,
And when you get hot you don't have to rely
On open windows or "Funeral Home" fans.
Washing clothes then was an all-day chore
Boiling starch to keep Dad's collars fine,
And how hard it was to get clothes dry
When they would freeze hanging on the line.
While we all may get nostalgic
Recalling that gentler, simpler life,
I'm glad I made it to live in this time,
Even with the traffic and strife.
But I wonder how things will be changed
When our grandchildren have grandchildren, then --
These will be their "Good Old Days"
To recall and say "Remember when . . ."
by Myra Teague

BE A ROSE
Sinners are like roses.
We will not bloom, multiply or flourish
Without the Son.
Only with Him, that's when
We are the most beautiful
by Katrina Edwards

TIME
Time is not measured
By the years that you live,
But by the deeds that you do
And the joy that you give . . .
And each day as it comes
Brings a chance to each one
To love to the fullest,
Leaving nothing undone . . .
