Bearettes swept by Kaufman
Brownsboro played one of their best games all season at just the right time as they were scheduled to open District 14-3A play against Bullard Tuesday in Brownsboro. Sabrina Bradley served three consecutive points late in the second game, propelling the Bearettes to a 23-21 lead. Kaufman rallied back to take the match 25-23. Facing elimination, the Bearettes battled back and forth with Kaufman tieing the game at 22. Kaufman held the Bearettes at 22 as they rolled on to score three unanswered points. Naomi Scott had 5 kills, 3 blocks and an ace in the loss while Hillary Shaffer added five blocks and four kills. Amye Scarborough had a kill and an ace while Chelsea Chambers had 5 assists. In sub-varsity action the JV Bearettes lost in two sets 23-25 and 9-25. Abby Hernandez had back to back aces in game two and one ace in the first set. The Freshmen also lost to Kaufman in two sets 15-25 and 17-25. Chelsea Holcomb had 9 service points in a row in set one and one ace in set two. All of the Bearette volleyball teams are scheduled to play in Gilmer on Friday with the Freshmen leading things off at 4:30pm. The Varsity Bearettes are 10-9 on the season. To conclude September the Bearettes will play in Van on Tuesday, September 25 and at home against Canton on Friday, September 28. |
