Mary Irvine

Services for Mary Melba Thompson Irvine, 90, Brownsboro, are scheduled for 2pm Friday at First Baptist Church, Ben Wheeler, with the Revs. C.H. Thompson and David Garrett officiating.

Burial will be in Edom Cemetery, under direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.

Mrs. Irvine died Sept. 30, 2007, in Tyler.

She was born Nov. 17, 1916, in Longstreet, La., to H.B. and Frances Hassell Thompson. She graduated from Stonewall High School, Longstreet and was a governess in Dallas and worked for 29 years as a supervisor of proofreaders for Taylor Publishing Co., in Dallas, retiring in 1971. She lived in the Field City area, where she was a member of Field City Baptist Church before moving to Edom and joining First Baptist Church, Ben Wheeler.

She was preceded in death by husband, Sam Robert Irvine, and brothers, Francis Wyatt "Buddy" Thompson and Leslie Blanchard "Little Brother" Thompson.

Survivors include daughters, Fran Bradford, Ben Wheeler and Karen Garrett, Mesquite; son, Richard Irvine, Brownsboro; sisters, Angie Vern "Girlie" Beard, Jasper, Marcia Rozeman, Shreveport, La. and Blanche Annette Monday, Minden, La.; brothers, Clyde Thompson, LaPorte, and Merrill "Tug" Thompson, Pryor, Okla.; six grandchilden, eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Bradford, Robert Bradford, Michael Davidson, Troy McAlister, Tex Bradford and Jeremy Dutschke.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
