Better late than never. The Freshman Bears scored 16 points in the final 8:22 of last Thursday's game in Emory to earn their second win of the season, 24-22.
Rains opened the contest with a 16 play 58 yard touchdown drive consuming all but :24 of the first quarter.
Brownsboro scored on their first possession of the second half on an 11 yard pass from Kyle Faulkner to Brandon Crawford. Darius Johnson converted the two-point conversion to tie the game at eight.
With the game tied at eight in the fourth quarter Rains took a 14-8 lead after a 28 yard touchdown run. The Bears' defense stopped the two-point conversion attempt, a play that would help later in the game.
Brownsboro answered the Wildcat score with a score of their own as Taylor Skaggs ran past Rains defenders for a 56 yard touchdown. Dallas Huckabee converted the two point to give the Bears a 16- 14 lead.
Rains used a 12 play 49 yard drive to eat away the time left in the game and scored on a one yard run to take a 22-16 lead after the successful two point conversion.
Down by six with 1:46 left to play the Bear offense needed just 12 seconds to score. Faulkner connected with Darius Johnson on a screen pass that Johnson took the distance for the game tieing touchdown.
After Johnson's 58 yard score he converted the two point conversion to give the Bears the 24-22 lead. Johnson's ability to convert the two point and the Bears defensive stand on an earlier conversion attempt led to the Bears two point victory.
As Rains mounted one last comeback attempt Kyle Faulkner intercepted a Wildcat pass to secure the Brownsboro win.
Faulkner was 8 of 13 passing for 132 yards with 2 touchdown passes. Davis led the team in receiving with 3 catches for 72 yards. Skaggs was the leading rusher with 3 carries for 64 yards.
Overall the Bears (2-3) totaled 207 yards of offense.
Brownsboro will play in Van on Thursday, October 11.
