Charles Edwin Gentry Services for Charles Edwin Gentry, 85, Tyler, were held Wednesday at Westwood Baptist Church with the Rev. James E. Cheatham officiating. Burial was in Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home, Tyler. Mr. Gentry died Oct. 8, 2007, in Tyler. He was born Dec. 28, 1921, in Tyler to Jessie E. and Laler M. Hendley Gentry and was a lifelong resident of Tyler. He worked in the safety department at Tyler Pipe and retired after 30 years. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church, St. Johns Masonic Lodge No. 53 and a Shriner. He was a sergeant in the Army Air Corps, serving during World War II. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Charlotte Gentry; daughter, Ann Gentry Cooley, Lindale; son, Steve Gentry, Van; sisters, Katherine Bransacum, Tyler, Jenelle Hood, Murchison, and Sara Booth, Edom; brother, Wilbert Gentry, Winona; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Todd Cooley, Tony Cooley, Johnny Cooley, Jake Gentry, Joey Gentry and J.T. Cooley. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Sanford Ave, Shreveport, La. 71003. |
