Clarence Joe Abbott

Graveside services for Clarence Joe Abbott, 81, Chandler, were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Lindale City Cemetery with the Rev. Don Herring officiating. Arrangements were under direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Abbott died October 3, 2007 at a Tyler hospice.

He was born May 27, 1926 in Larue. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, was a truck driver and a member of Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by brothers, Racy, Doc and J.T. Abbott, and sisters, Bessie Webb and Rena Fields.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Melba L. Abbott, Chandler; daughter, Joy G. Abbott, Houston; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Grandchildren served as honorary pallbearers.
