Back 2 School Main Event was an `awesome' success

The Refuel Teen Center was packed with students for the annual Back 2 School Main Event Saturday.

The Back 2 School Main Event was an awesome success this year! The Main Event is an annual event that Faith Baptist Church of Brownsboro sponsors to energize our community teenagers and those abroad for the new school year.

This year's theme was "UFC: the Ultimate Fight for Christ", based on 1 Timothy 6:12.

The day began at 10 am with praise and worship music led by Sean Little and the band from Lakeside Baptist Church in Canton. Door prizes were given away including Christian CDs, Tshirts and DVDs. Brother Brad Parker, youth director at Faith Baptist brought a message called "Gideon the Wimp and the Power of Weakness", based on Gideon in the book of Judges and his transformation from a wimp to a warrior.

After the morning session, it was on to the gym for a time of "ultimate fighting"! Inflatable equipment was set up and allowed teens (and some crazy youth directors) to fight; jousting, sumo wrestling and boxing style! Congratulations to Brother Chuck Munson from Edmond Road Baptist Church in Edmond, OK for winning the battle of the youth directors, way to go!

Following the fighting and a great lunch provided by the ladies of Faith Baptist, it was on to the Refuel Teen Center to wrap things up. The teen center auditorium was transformed into an art gallery as Brother Sam Pollard from Pine Forest Baptist Church in Humble, TX gave us his testimony.

Brother Pollard presented a unique one hour video presentation complete with black lights, fog and surround sound music that charted his journey from "good ole' Christian boy" to a life of drugs and alcohol and back to the arms of the Father. This was a very different and traumatic video that grabbed the kids by the collar and didn't let go.

After the afternoon session, things were wrapped up by drawing for the final door prize of the day, a brand new 4 gig iPod Nano, complete with today's best Christian music! Congratulations to First Baptist Church of Clute, TX for winning the prize.

Churches represented at the Main Event `07 were: Cornerstone Baptist of Athens, Leagueville Baptist of Murchison, Faith Baptist of Brownsboro, Edmond Road Baptist of Edmond, OK, Rogers Baptist of Garland, First Baptist of Clute, Mosaic Baptist of Flower Mound, and Lake Worth Baptist of Ft. Worth.
