Bearettes fall twice in district play

It was a tough week for the Brownsboro Bearettes as they fell to Bullard and Van.

On the road in Bullard last Tuesday the Bearettes lost in three sets, 25-21, 25-13,25-23.

Naomi Scott led the Bearettes with four kills and three tips while Hillary Shaffer added a tip and three kills.

Senior Amber Strickland paced the Bearettes with 16 assists and 3 tips.

Friday the Bearettes lost the first two sets to Van 25-20 and 25-15 before rallying in game three to win 25-15.

In game one the teams traded points and were tied at 17 before Van took control.

Van returned the 25-15 score in the fourth set to win the series in four.

Chelsea Chimney had two aces, two kills and a block while Scott had 4 kills, 2 blocks and an ace.

Shaffer had five kills, three blocks and an ace. Caitlin Collins has 2 kills and Strickland had 13 assists.

Bullard defeated Athens on Friday to claim a share of the District 14-3A lead with a 6- 1 District record. Van is also 6-1. Athens is third.

Brownsboro is 13-15 on the season and 2-5 in District 14- 3A play.

The Junior Varsity lost to Bullard 26-24, 26-24 on Tuesday and lost to Van 25-16, 25- 13 on Friday.

Brownsboro's Freshman team was defeated by Van 25- 23, 25-17.
