JV Bears tie with Van
Brownsboro took a first half lead of 8-0 as Moore raced into the endzone from 48 yards out. Ryan Owens connected with Austin Adair for the two point conversion to give the Bears the lead with 4:25 left to play in the first half. With 7:23 left to play in the game the Vandal offense woke up and drove 99 yards on nine plays to tie the game after the successful conversion. Following a big defensive stand the Bears offense took the field with 1:59 left to play starting on the Brownsboro 47 yard line. Owens connected with Bret Ralson, Esteban Echandy, James Cofer and Austin Adair to drive the Bears down to the Vandal 37 yard line with a little over twenty seconds left in the ball game. Facing a fourth and one the Bears used a little trickery as Owens hit Cofer on a screen pass prompting Cofer to pitch the ball back to Moore. Moore gained 17 yards on the play setting the Bears up on the Vandal 20 yard line with just three seconds left to play. Brownsboro attempted one last pass that fell incomplete, leaving the game tied at 8. Overall Owens passed for 125 yards on 16 completions. He completed 62% of his passes to six different receivers. Brownsboro totaled 230 yards of offense, 105 on the ground and 125 in the air. Van totaled 211 yards of offense. Austin Adair led the team in receiving with five catches for 55 yards. James Cofer had four receptions for 34 yards. Defensively Adam Dingler had a first half interception while Justin McClesky and Shade Bruffet had tackles for a loss. The Bears will host Chapel Hill tonight in Brownsboro following the freshman game at 5:00pm. |
