Bearettes roll past Canton and Chapel Hill

Brownsboro defeated both Canton and Chapel Hill last week on the road to improve to 4-5 in District 14-AAA play and 15-15 on the season.

Both match-ups the Bearettes and their opponent played the full five sets before a winning team was crowned.

In Canton last Tuesday the Bearettes completed the season sweep of the Eaglettes by winning the first set 25-16, third set 25-11 and fifth set 15-6. Canton won the second set 25-15 and fourth set 25- 18.

Amye Scarborough had 7 service points in a row in both the fourth and fifth sets for the victorious Bearettes.

Sabrina Bradley had three blocks, four kills, five assists and three digs. Naomi Scott blocked four shots and had two digs. Other Bearettes performing well against Canton were Hillary Shaffer (three blocks, two kills) and Amber Strickland (two blocks, four digs, six assists.).

On Friday the Bearettes opened up the match with Chapel Hill with two wins 25- 17 and 25-18. Chapel Hill rallied back to take the third and fourth sets 25-21, 25-20 before the Bearettes impressed all those in attendance with a come-from-behind fifth set win 16-14.

Trailing 10-14 in the fifth set the Bearettes sent Chelsea Chambers to the servers line with no room for error.

Chambers helped rally the Bearettes to victory as she served six service points in a row to give the Bearettes the 16-14 win.

From the serving line Chambers was impressive on the night as she served 10 points in the first two games and six points in game four.

Naomi Scott had five blocks, a kill and 15 tips at Chapel Hill while Hillary Shaffer added six blocks, four kills and eight tips.

Chelsea Chimney had a block, two kills and two assists in the win.

Brownsboro was on the road Tuesday night for the season's final game in Athens.
