Union Hill Baptist Sunday evening Union Hill members got together to show their appreciation to Brother Bill and Ms. Charlie. They give so much to each and every one of us. They have shown total, selfless, unwavering dedication to us for nearly fourteen years ... fourteen wonderful years. Without any hesitation, any of us would declare Brother Bill the best pastor we could possibly have along with his beautiful, loving "right hand," Ms. Charlie. Just saying, "we appreciate you," doesn't begin to cover it! We look forward to at least fourteen more years! We love you two. Can you believe November is already here! Time truly flies by. It's been a busy week. For you Wednesday readers, remember tonight is the night of Fall Fest at Union Hill. Go on over and enjoy the fun and take the opportunity to bid on some of the great auction items. If you're a Thursday reader, you'll just have to make plans to attend next year ... but not to fret, there's still lots of fun activities coming up for the remainder of the year. A good place to start is the choir. Join now to be able to participate in the Christmas program. Just know that Steve will put together very special program for Christmas. Don't you want to be a part of it? You've got time to get your schedule arranged to participate in this next activity. Our church has agreed to help the Salvation Army during the month of December by ringing the bells for donations at the Brookshires in Chandler. We will provide ringers each Saturday and anyone can help from the children to the youth and adults. We will be providing a sign-up sheet so you can pick which day and time will be best for you. Make this a part of your Christmas plans and receive a special blessiing. The Women's Ministry, currently involved in the Beth Moore Bible Study, is also busily making plans for the ladies dinner to be held on December 11th. Get your name on that sign-up sheet. The evening will be filled with dinner, fellowship and fun and you don't want to miss it. Also in the works already, are plans for the next overnight women's retreat on January 11th and 12th. If you'd like to attend or if you'd like to make arrangements to pay out the cost of the trip, since it comes so close after Christmas, see Glenda Wallace at the church. With holiday meals coming up, not to mention all the other expenses associated with the holidays, don't forget to check out the money saving coupons at the church. They are in the file on the table in the hall by the bulletin board. Take any that you can use and save those dollars. Every little bit helps, you know. We had asked you when coming to Fall Fest to bring canned goods to help support The Food Pantry. That's not the only time you can donate. When you're doing that extra shopping, with the money you've saved by using the money saving coupons you found at the church, you might pick up an extra can or two of something warming and nutritious to go in The Food Pantry. Remember the Wheels of Mercy were participating in the rally at Kilgore over the weekend. Will have a report for you next week. They had a concession stand with proceeds going toward the annual toy run to the Baptist Home for Children in Waxahachie. Will bring you up to date on their progress. The key word during the morning service last Sunday was commitment. Boy, that's one about which we can all do some serious soul searching. There are commitments of all kinds, a pledge, a promise, a vow ... some made solemnly ... some in haste, but they are all commitments and a commitment is binding. How are you doing at keeping your commitments? We should work on them, shouldn't we. We appreciate you visitors coming by to worship with us. Holidays are generally happy, fun-filled days but in some situations, they can be lonely and depressing. Don't fall into that last category. Come spend the holiday season with us at Union Hill. Don't feel like you are alone ... you're not. Come share with us. Just take that first step inside the door and you'll know you're not alone. There's lots of friendly, loving folks ready to welcome you. We'd love to have you here. See you on the hill. |
