BJHS football teams split week

Both 8th grade football teams won last week while both 7th grade teams lost in games to Canton.

The 8th grade "A" team won 26-14 as Keuntis Thompson rushed for 253 yards and scored all the Bears points. Thompson

closing in on 1,000 rushing yards this season. Zack Gentry, Will Spradley and Willie Miller all played well on defense. The Bears scored 20 unanswered points to win the game. Cody Strickland completed passes to Nick Jones and D'Zavion Moss.

Winning 14-8 was the 8th grade "B" team. Tyler Poe caught a touchdown pass from Zack Anderson while Lance Booth returned

fumble 30 yards for a defensive score. RJ Newsome converted

two point conversion for the Bears. All Brownsboro points came in the second half.

Brownsboro's 7th grade "A" team was shutout by Canton 30- 0. Shelby Rogers passed for 55 yards in the loss.

In the October 25 issue of The Statesman it was incorrectly reported that Taylor Beall scored for the Bears. It was Ryan Chapman who scored on a touchdown pass from Shelby Rogers.

Seth Middelton scored on a touchdown run but the 7th grade

B" team was unable to convert the two points as they fell to Canton by the score of 8-6. Logan Caldwell and Ty Benson both played well on defense for the Bears.

Both 7th grade teams are 1-2 in district play while both 8th grade teams are 2-1.
