Lake Palestine U.M.C.
by Barbara Cade

It looks like with Halloween behind us, the big holiday season is fast approaching, bringing with it lots of exciting events for church members.

First, the choir is working on a Christmas musical presentation. It will be given at our church on the Sunday evening of December 16th and at Noonday UMC the Saturday night before that. The title is "Once Upon a Miracle." Anyone interested in coming out for rehearsals is very welcome. It's a lot of fun.

Also, the United Methodist Men are now organizing their Thanksgiving dinner deliveries to shut-ins or others in the community who would otherwise not have a big meal at that time of month. They will be talking more about this event at their regular meeting this Saturday at 8am, but right now, June Hitt has started to organize a list of those who would like to volunteer to bring food. After the delivery of the food on November 17th, everyone is encouraged to come to the church and have another Thanksgiving meal.

Lynn Davis' foot looks a lot better. She was distributing cookbooks this past Sunday. Also, Jeff Davis was back although he was complaining about the heavy cast on his arm.

Dorothy Botts is finally going to get her knee surgery on November 14th. She's not looking forward to it, but she will be glad to get rid of the pain in her knee.

Herb Botts is feeling a lot better this week.

We're praying for Debbie Bernard's husband, Mike, as he awaits word from his doctors.

Linda and Bernard Massey decided to take a quick trip up to Arkansas. They left right after church on Sunday and plan to look for some of those Arkansas diamonds.

John Morris was treated to a birthday dinner by his wife, Debbie. She took him to The Shed in Edom. Also present were Vicki Patton and Ken and Barb Cade.

Rebecca Prather gave a workshop on writing lesson plans for the GED teachers on Saturday.

Crystal Simons was in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area this weekend to celebrate an early Thanksgiving with family members.

Dale and Mary Ann Whisenhunt have announced a change in the Angel Food delivery schedule. The delivery for food this month will be November 17th. The December orders need to be in by December 2nd and those deliveries will be December 15th.

Also, Dale and Mary Ann have been very busy welcoming their daughter, Tracy, and her son Tyler, to their home. The two have moved here to this area. I hear Tyler is already playing football at BHS.

Just a reminder that the church-wide Christmas dinner at Traditions Restaurant is planned for Wednesday, December 12th. Start making plans now to attend.

Happy Birthday this week to Cindy Newsom, Brayton Brooks, Teresa Stark, Bobbie Mathus, Robert Stark, Caitlyne Martin, Shawn Decker, Lillian Stegall, Mary Chudleigh, Dale Wisenhunt and Bob Hitt. Also, Happy Anniversary to Billy and Jane Peek, Robert and Teresa Stark and Rusty and Cindy Newsom.
