Letter To The Editor

I would like to take this opportunity to stress the importance of driving safely and sober -- which can save precious lives. People who are under the influence of any drug or alcohol and decide to drive are endangering themselves and others. These are some key things you need to have to be a safe driver:

1. Alertness - be attentive to traffic and road conditions at all times.

2. Have sound judgment to avoid dangerous situations and handle them safely when they do occur.

3. Quick reaction - once you spot a problem and decide what to do, you must act quickly and precisely. This requires good reflexes and coordination.

All of these are not possible if under the influence of alcohol and drugs. So do the right thing and be a safe and sober driver. Thank you for letting me express my opinion and hopefully of others.

Phyllis K. Dodson, Brownsboro, Tx.
