Volunteers needed in GED prep program

Over the last several months The Chandler and Brownsboro Statesman has championed the new GED Preparation Program taking place in our area. The program has enrolled 20 students in the Monday night classes that take place at Lake Palestine United Methodist Church (LPUMC) 7 miles south of Chandler on FM 315.

More volunteer teachers and tutors are needed immediately due to this wonderful turnout. Joyce Martin, Literacy Coordinator, is issuing a call to lovers of learning in the Chandler and Brownsboro area that have a heart to teach and mentor adults. No experience is necessary and volunteers are asked to serve three (3) hours ev- ery Monday evening. Materials are provided.

A tasty pot of soup provided by our "Soup and Supplication " volunteers greets the learners and volunteers each week, and most importantly, the eager attention of learners who are striving to achieve a goal that for whatever reason has eluded them in the past.

Additionally, child care is available for volunteers as well as learners.

If you would like to volunteer as a Literacy Teacher or Tutor, or enroll as a Learner please contact Mrs. Joyce Martin at 903-849-6918.
