Letters To The Editor We hear about our youth when they fail or are great in sports, but what about the others? As President of the Brownsboro Theater Angels and the sponsor of the students club, "Theatre in the Round," I would like to tell you about some other great young adults. Their group is led by Alyssa Bledsoe, the President and Chris Mueller, Vice President, and under their direction this year they are reaching out to support the community. This is the second year that they have worked with the Chandler Lions Club supplying dunkers for their dunking booth at the Chandler Pow Wow. They also have plans to help out with the Little Dribblers Association in Brownsboro this year. The most current project is to have a bake sale at school to raise money, so they can support as many Salvation Army Christmas Tree Angels as possible. These young adults also volunteered their time two weeks before school started to help clean and remove ruined materials from the building, when we found our theater had been covered in mold and mildew over the summer break. Needless to say, any time the adult booster club needs their youth, we can count on them to be there. I am proud to call them all my sons and daughters. So next time you hear that the Brownsboro Final Curtain Players are putting on a show, make a special effort to go see the performance and show them we appreciate their contributions back to our community. Our grandchildren's future looks bright with fine young men and women like this to guide them. Sincerely, Matt Mueller Sponsor of The Theatre in the Round (Student Club) President of the Brownsboro Theater Angels In Response to Elicia Sanders and Wade Gent Self-describer "concerned citizen" Elicia Sanders and her liberal buddy Wade Gent are misinforming your readers about the upcoming Republican Primary. Sanders claimed in her letter she supports Republican candidates, but failed to mention she and her husband are high-paid hired guns based out of Austin here to help elect liberal candidates sympathetic to personal injury lawyers seeking big awards for slip and falls, dog bites and hot coffee spills. According to the state-run Texas Ethic Commission (TEC), some of their clients include former Democrat candidate for governor Tony Sanchez, the largest donor to the Democratic Party in Texas history, and union supporter Carol Keeton Strayhorn. Gent has a history of voting in Democrat primaries and contributed money to Democrat State Rep. Lon Burnam's campaign. Burnam is one of the most liberal Democrats in the House of Representatives. He supports a state income tax, gay marriage and voted against Representative Betty Brown's bill to prevent illegal immigrants from voting in Texas elections. Public records show Gent was still voting in Arlington in 2004, where he lived and worked as a personal injury attorney. In 2006, he showed up on the campaign trail in Henderson and Kaufman counties describing himself as a "former banker" and "businessman. " To prepare for the upcoming campaign, and to try and hide his real identity, he took down his law firm's website where he bragged about his success in so-called asbestos lawsuits. After the election, his website returned only to be recently taken down to prepare for the next election. I always tell my students, "It never fails, there is a paper trail." The thousands of dollars Gent has received is the paper trail that haunts him. Most of Gent's campaign contributions came from outside of Henderson and Kaufman Counties. According to the TEC, over 90 percent came from Democrat-leaning unions, trial lawyers and their associations. It's no coincidence Gent was the first "Republican" candidate to ever receive money from this group, that also supported John Kerry. Gent said at a campaign event, "The problem with the Legislature is there aren't enough lawyers in it." I would argue there are too many lawyers in the Legislature and they are out of touch with everyday people. Their very narrow vision is fixed on undoing the lawsuit reform you voted for and passed in 2003. With the trial lawyers, one lake house isn't enough ... they want a beach house and a private plane to fly back and forth. After Gent lost the election, his response was a letter to the editor calling Republican Primary voters "radicals." He also sent an email to the Re-Elect Betty Brown Campaign bragging that `win or lose, this was the good publicity for my law firm.' Gents supporters and financers are liberal Democrats who want to invade the Republican primary. They oppose State Representative Betty Brown's strong record on Christianity, protecting our border, families, education, tax cuts, lawsuit reform, health care and Texas values. They want to open up the border to build the Democrat voting base and to write legislation to help fill the fat pockets of the trial lawyers that hurt our economy and raise our insurance rates. Brown co-authored a bill to place "Under God" in the State of Texas Pledge and thinks children should be allowed to pray in school. In a nutshell, she believes in common sense and takes it to Austin on our behalf. The liberal Wade Gent, who admits he is against capping your property tax appraisals, and his Austin buddies say this is all a waste of time. I, along with teachers, homemakers, ranchers, doctors, retired citizens and business owners will continue to vote for Betty Brown because she supports the district we call home.
