FALL PLEASURES

Today there was a redbird, singing
Its song, a sweet delight.
Its color in the bleak pear tree
Was like a Christmas light.
Next I saw a butterfly,
Its colors gold and brown.
Then came a yellow one
Flying closer to the ground.
There appeared a walking stick,
Dressed in mottled gray,
Camouflaged to try to hide
While crossing the walkway.
After that I saw the horses,
One white, two brown, one tan.
The fifth horse was both white
And brown, along with them he ran.
O' a festive day it was,
Highlighted by colors and trees,
What satisfaction was the crunch
Of leaves strewn around for me.
Heavenly Father loves us so.
What fun it must have been
To create such dazzlements
To delight us, and our kin.

A LULL FELL

A lull fell ...
It had been a busy day,
Filled with must-do chores
That seemed to clean
And to sanitize this old house,
But mostly,
To fill the hours
Between sun-up and sunset.
As her Mom's moon's light
Drifted silently through
The bedroom's three bay windows,
Gilding every surface
In pristine white light,
Silence stumbled into
Her private sanctuary
And refused to exit!

SOMETIMES HE SAYS NO

When I was 6 years old,
I prayed that my sister's hair would all fall out by
morning.
He said NO!
When I was 12 years old,
I prayed for God to take me out of this world.
He said NO!
When I was 16 years old,
I prayed that my boyfriend and I would be together
forever.
He said NO!
I thank God that sometimes He says NO!
