Email or mail us your submission and look for it in an upcoming issue of The Statesman. FALL PLEASURES Today there was a redbird, singing Its song, a sweet delight. Its color in the bleak pear tree Was like a Christmas light. Next I saw a butterfly, Its colors gold and brown. Then came a yellow one Flying closer to the ground. There appeared a walking stick, Dressed in mottled gray, Camouflaged to try to hide While crossing the walkway. After that I saw the horses, One white, two brown, one tan. The fifth horse was both white And brown, along with them he ran. O' a festive day it was, Highlighted by colors and trees, What satisfaction was the crunch Of leaves strewn around for me. He said NO! When I was 12 years old, I prayed for God to take me out of this world. He said NO! When I was 16 years old, I prayed that my boyfriend and I would be together forever. He said NO!
