What is Hanging of the Greens?

Hanging of the Greens is actual the beginning of the Advent season, the four Sundays before Christmas. The expression means just that, churches decorate with evergreen wreaths and evergreen trees, and don't forget the lighting of the Chrismon Tree, that helps to symbolize the new and everlasting life brought through Jesus the Christ. However, we at Brownsboro First United Methodist Church will be having our Hanging of the Greens service on Sunday night, November 25th at 6 p.m. We would like to invite you to come and worship with us and enjoy this beautiful service..

Words to remember: Laughter is God's sunshine. Take time to laugh for it is the muby sic of the soul.

--Bro. Ernest

From Glenda:

My uncle Hubert is a retired fire captain and now is a fire marshal in Gulfport. He's very special to me and next to my husband is probably the strongest male role model I have. He loves his family and is an amazing Christian.

At the Simmons reunion he did the devotion, he told us that we need an escape plan from fire. Two ways out, a meeting place and everyone know the plan.

In 1971 we lost a home; there were nine of us in it. I wish we had known a plan. All escaped barely, but mass confusion was abounding. We need a fire plan in our life, but to escape the fire of hell there is only one way found in the Word of God. Everyone needs to know that plan. Escape Hell, meet in Heaven. Without knowing the plan and sharing it you may lose a loved one. Know the plan, memorize it and share with as many as you can so we have a great reunion in Heaven.
