St. Boniface Catholic On the Thirty-Third, and final Sunday in Ordinary Time, members of St Boniface heard of the events that will take place when this world comes to its end. In his homily, Fr Jesse posed the question, "Do we truly believe that Jesus will come again?" God's ultimate plan is often times easy to loose sight of. We become distracted by the events of our daily lives. Wars and disasters occur. As in the Gospel account of today's readings, Jesus sees the immediate happenings in the context of God's eternal plan - a vision which calls us to hope and courage. When will the end come? We do not know the day or the hour as that is part of God's plan. We must remain faithful to God, clinging to Jesus and believing in Him in order to receive eternal life. We pray that we always remain faithful to Him as we await His glorious return. Members enjoyed refreshments provided by some of the ladies of the parish. A reminder: Your donations help provide the refreshments on Sunday mornings. Your contributions can be placed in the `blessings' jar that is on the serving table each Sunday morning. Your generosity is appreciated. There will be a training session for new Extraordinary Ministers on Wednesday, November 28th at 7 pm in the community room. This training is for `new' Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors. Those already serving in these very important ministries are invited to attend, however your presence is not mandatory. Anyone interested in bringing the Passion Play back to St Boniface should make plans to attend an organizational meeting on Thursday, November 29th at 7pm in the community room. Fr Jesse has asked that from those attending this very important meeting, a committee of 3 persons be elected to serve as the foundation for putting on the play in the spring. This meeting is open to ALL interested people in the Chandler area community. The greater the turn out, the better the chances are for reviving this Ecumenical production of the Passion of our Lord. December will be a full month for members of St Boniface. A parish retreat is planned for December 9th in conjunction with the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This advent retreat is a wonderful way for individuals, families and friends to prepare for the Coming of the Christ Child. Let us make room for Him in our busy and hectic holiday schedules. The annual Christmas dinner and Cantata will be held on December 16 beginning at 4pm. Again, St Boniface will provide the meat and members are asked to bring the side dishes. A sign up sheet will be posted in the community room. As in years past, Rachael Maldonado will coordinate the cantata. Please see Rachael to sign-up for your `talent' whether it is singing, poetry, or playing an instrument. Be on the lookout for more information in the bulletin! Congratulations and Best Wishes to all those who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. We ask for your continued prayer for those who are sick and suffering. Remember, too, the souls of the faithful departed; may they rest in peace. May God Bless and Keep in His tender care the men and women of the armed services who will be away from their loved ones on Thanksgiving while they protect and defend us. May our Lord and Savior who has given to us the bounty that we are most grateful for Bless each of you this Thanksgiving Day and always. |
