Junior Varsity Bears

Outscored 17-10 in the fourth period of play the Junior Varsity Bears record dropped to 1-1 as they fell to Gladewater 54-33 on Friday.

Brownsboro led 43-37 heading into the final period of play before the Gladewater charge.

Zack Bailey and Bret Ralson led the Bears in scoring with 12 points each. Jon Jon Thompson also hit double figures in scoring with 11 points.

Thompson and Austin Adair (2) both had three pointers for the Bears.

In the season opener the Bears rolled past Kemp 56-29 in Kemp.

Bret Tidwell hit two 3- pointers and Miquel Negrate led the Bears in scoring with 13 points.

Brownsboro scored 23 first period points against Kemp, a total the Yellow Jackets did not reach until midway through the fourth period.

Both games the Freshman Bears have played this basketball season have been close. Last Friday night the Bears won a close contest with Gladewater 40-33.

Ryan Owens and Collin Mason led the Bears in scoring with 10 points each in the win. Owens nailed three 3- pointers. Colton Dowdle also hit a three for the Bears.

Last Tuesday the Bears lost the season opener 40-35 in Kemp.

Mason led the Bears in scoring with 11 points. Tyler Whisenhunt nailed two 3- pointers as part of his nine points on the game.

Evening their season record at 1-1 the Freshman Bearettes handed the Eustace Lady Bulldogs a 22-7 loss last Tuesday night in Brownsboro.

Brownsboro shutout the Eustace offense in the first quarter not allowing a single point to be scored.

Tiffany Hurd led the Bearettes in scoring with eight points.

BJHS basketball

The 7th grade "A" team Bearettes defeated Van in the season opener 23-5. Anna Wood led the girls in scoring with seven points.
