Bears remain perfect after two

Two games into the 2007-08 basketball season the varsity Brownsboro Bears are perfect.
Brownsboro opened the season last Tuesday with a 79- 36 win over the Kemp Yellow Jackets in Kemp.
In Kemp the Bears rolled to an early dominating lead, leading 31-9 at the half. In the third period the Bears continued to pile it on the Jackets as they scored 21 points while holding Kemp to 11 points.
When the final buzzer went off the Bears embarrassed the Jackets on their home court winning 79-36.
Three Bears nailed two 3- pointers in the game. Seth Martin, Jacob McCarthy and Ryan Smith all hit threes for the Bears.
Smith led the team in scoring with 26 points. Tristian Warren (10) and Martin (14) also scored in double figures for the Bears. No Kemp player reached double figures in scoring.
On Friday night the Bears traveled to Gladewater and in a very close game won 62-60.
Sophomore Jacob McCarthy was the hero in the "battle of the Bears" as they drained a three pointer with two seconds left in the game. The inbounds pass was intercepted by Ryan Smith to secure the Brownsboro win.

Andrew Adair led Brownsboro in scoring with 18 points as he was 8-11 at the free throw line. He scored in every period.
Brownsboro took an early lead on Gladewater leading 17-12 after the first period. The lead was short lived as Gladewater rallied back to lead at the half 34-24 and at the end of three, 48-44.
The Brownsboro Bears trailed by six points early in the fourth period before taking a one point lead with 1:24 left in the game.
Following two successful free throw shots by Keith Johnson with :51 left in the game Brownsboro led 59-56.
From the free throw line Gladewater tied the game at 59, before taking a one point lead with :14 seconds left.
With :14 left in the game Brownsboro drove the ball to midcourt before calling a timeout with six seconds left.
The inbounds pass found its way to McCarthy who drained the three for the win.
McCarthy totaled seven points on the night and two 3- point shots.
Ryan Smith also scored in double figures for the Bears with 11 points.
Brownsboro (2-0) will take part in the Burger King Classic this weekend at UT Tyler. The Bears first game will be at 10:30am Friday against Frankston. They will play on Saturday against Arp at 10:30am.
The Bears' first home game of the season will be on Tuesday, November 27 at 6:30 against Troup.
Varsity Bears are Martin, Adair, Smith, McCarthy, Warren, Johnson, Keaton Parsell, Charlie Stringer, Jerqualyn Dora, Broox Nichelson, Joe Denney (injured), Jeremy Monroe.
Brownsboro's head coach is Jeff Hutchins, he is assisted by Paul Drake and Kent Bradley. Hutchins is in his second season as head coach.
