THANKSGIVING PRAYER
The cottage was old with a sagging door,
The inside was plain with a bare wood floor,
The man was bent and ragged and thin,
The coat he wore was too big for him.
He clasped his hands and bowed his head
Over his meal of milk and bread.
Lord, I give you thanks for what I've got,
I know it's not much, but for me, it's a lot.
I've got my health and I've got my home
And there's my cat, so I'm not alone.
I don't ask for much, just let me live
And let me share what I have to give.
I know I'm old and poor and slow,
But when it comes my time to go,
You'll take my hand and lead the way.
Thank you, Lord, for your blessing today.

FREEDOM OF LIFE

Observe how the breezes sway the tall grasses in the field,
A green ocean moving to the music of the wind,
Tranquility and beauty beyond compare.
A lone eagle glides effortless high above the tree tops,
Free as the air itself, he surveys his world below. A shrill cry is heard through all the land, All are still listening to its voice, Then the sounds begin again, Bees, birds and the wind in flight.

DREAM ON . . . LIVE ON
I've dreamed many dreams that never came true,
I've seen them vanish at dawn.
But I've realized enough of my dreams, thank God,
To make me want to dream on.
I've prayed many prayers, when no answers came,
Though I waited so patient and long,
But answers came to enough of my prayers
To make me keep praying on.
I've trusted many a friend who failed
And left me to weep alone,
But I've found enough of my friends to be true
To make me keep trusting on.
I've sown many seeds that fell by the way
For the birds to feed upon,
But I've held enough golden sheaves in my hands
To make me keep sowing on.
I've drained the cup of disappointment and pain
And gone many days without song,
But I've sipped enough nectar from the roses of life
To make me want to live on.

DEAR LORD
May we be a little less impatient,
With those we assume too slow.
May we be a little less arrogant
Because of all we know.
May we be a little more forgiving,
And faster to be kind.
May we be a little more eager,
To be sweeter all the time.
May we be a little more like Jesus,
Each and every day.
Amen
