Union Hill Baptist We hope you all had a good Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends and that all travelers returned home safely. It's time to get back in the groove now and focus on Christmas which is just around the corner. We'll be working on those "lists" and making those menus and hopefully getting our priorities in order as we plan for the celebration of that very special birthday. This is a busy time at Union Hill. Let me give you some reminders, so you can mark your calendars. This Friday night, November 30th, it's "Adult's Night Out." We'll be going to Athens for dinner and on to see the lights at the Christmas Park. Get your name on the signup sheet for an evening of great fun. We'll leave from the church at 6:30 p.m. The next day, Saturday, December 1st, the Wheels of Mercy will be leaving on the "Texas Baptist Children's Home Toy Run." This year we have thirtyone children to whom we will minister. If you want to be a part of this special annual project, call the church at 903-852-5043. You do not have to be a member of the Wheels of Mercy nor do you have to travel on a motorcycle. Anyone who is interested may participate, either by actually traveling or by your monetary donation. Either way, you will receive a great blessing from your giving to these youngsters. Sunday, December 2nd, the youth of Union Hill will have a yummy fundraiser immediately following the morning service. They will have a "baked potato lunch." Moms, this is a good chance to take a break from cooking and enjoy a great meal too. Come join us. The time is here for you to have the opportunity to do your part as a Bell Ringer for the Salvation Army. Union Hill is responsible for each Saturday in December prior to Christmas. We will have two Bell Ringers at a time and you may sign up for one-hour shifts or more. The Salvation Army pots will be outside the Brookshires store in Chandler. Your efforts will benefit a large number of people and the blessings will be immeasureable. Sign up now. Now, here is a message from the desk of Glenda Wallace. A special night for the ladies of the church will be held on Tuesday, December 11th at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be furnished and we will have a great evening of fellowship. We do need to know how many are coming, so please sign the list on the bulletin board. If you need child care, please see me or call the church office. Thanks for the info, Glenda, and ladies I know you've been waiting for this, so get signed up. It's going to be soooooo nice. That's all the news for this time. I do want to invite you to come visit us at Union Hill. We have a warm, loving church and a wonderful Pastor, and we eagerly wait to welcome you. As you get into the hustle and bustle of the upcoming Christmas holidays, let's keep reminding those we meet that, even though we all grew up looking forward to the arrival of the jolly old fellow with the bag over his shoulder, there is One whose light overwhelmingly outshines that bright red suit! See you on the hill. |
