Chandler F.U.M.C. (Editor's note: This article was shortened for space.) Sermon for Dec. 2: "A Fresh Look at Christmas." Scripture: II Corinthians 5:11 - 6:1 The Christmas season is rapidly approaching and Chandler First United Methodist Church has already sent the Christmas greetings out to the community. With all the holiday activities going on we should all be well into the holiday spirit early this year. Our gift to the community this year will be a Live Nativity with animals, music and a lighted trail depicting the symbols of Christmas. Start your Christmas season by focusing on Christ, come next Sunday and Monday, December 2nd and 3rd from 6 to 8 p.m. to the Live Nativity. Wouldn't it be great if everyone in Chandler came to share in the joy of Christ's birth with their neighbors? In addition, Christmas trees from various community organizations, in cooperation with the Chandler Tour of Homes, will be on display in Heritage Hall. Admission to the Christmas tree display will be free, but donations to God's Open Hands Food Bank are requested. The organization with the most donations for their tree will win a prize. Mr. Claus, commonly known as Santa, will be visiting First United Methodist Church, Sunday, December 9th at 6 p.m. We are not sure that the reindeer will be able to make it this time, as they usually find the Texas weather a little warm. But rest assured that Santa in all his finery will be here to hear your wishes. Parents will have to wait until all the children get a chance to talk with Santa, before he will listen to your wishes, so keep your list short. Families without young ones, come and join in the fun; everyone is welcome. Just remember, you must BELIEVE! The Lifeliners Ladies Luncheon will be this Friday, November 30th, at the Potpourri House in Tyler. They will leave the church at 10:55 a.m. Notify Ken Reid if you would like to attend, as soon as possible, so adequate seating can be arranged. These ladies are great fun, so come and join them. You do not have to be a Lifeliner, but someday you might like to be a member, so this would be a good time to make friends. |
