What's Happening The CBACC will host their noon luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 29 at San Pedro's in Chandler. Please plan to attend. The Perrys will be in concert at the Texas Gospel Music Hall, 6513 HWY 19 S., Athens on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 6:00 PM. The Perrys, from Nashville, TN, won America's favorite mixed group of the year at the NQC, 2007 seven years in a row! Tickets are on sale at The Scroll in Tyler, First State Bank on the square in Athens, and at Music Hall by calling 903-677-2492 or 903-675-5217. Reserved seats are $15, General Admission $12 in advance until the day of the concert, and at the door $15. Doors open at 5 PM. The "5,6,7,8 Dance Studio" Garage Sale will be Saturday, Dec. 1 beginning at 6 AM at Chandler Elementary. The sale will benefit the competition teams. The Youth of Opelika Missionary Baptist Church will host their Winter Fest on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 5:00 PM, featuring their 3rd Annual Chili Cookoff. There will be a dessert auction, silent auction, and games. If anyone is interested in entering the cookoff call 903- 286-0056 before Wednesday. There will be food and fun for all ages. Everyone is welcomed. Two student- written and directed plays will be in contest with 16 others, Saturday, Dec. 1 all day at Rains High School in Emory. Please come and support B.I.S.D. Live In Concert!!! The Jacksonville College Singers will perform at Rock Hill Baptist Church in Brownsboro at 8:30 AM and 10:55 AM, Sunday, Dec. 2. There will be Sunday School starting at 9:55 AM following the first concert. Open House at Brother Ernest and Glenda Elliott's, Dec. 2 from 2-4. The Annual Christmas Tour of Homes and Parade of Trees will be Sunday, Dec. 2 from 2-5 PM and Monday, 6-9 PM. Four homes will be featured, and organizations are invited to decorate a tree for the Parade of Trees. All proceeds from the trees (canned goods used for voting) will be donated to God's Open Hands. Groups interested in participating in the parade should call 903-360-1978. The Parade of Trees will be located at the First United Methodist Church in Chandler and will include a Christmas Market with unique holiday gifts. There will also be a live nativity at the the church each night. Women's Unity Fellowship sponsors both the Tour of Homes and Parade of Trees. Band Booster Club Meeting 6:00 PM on Monday, Dec. 3 in the Band Hall. All parents are welcomed to attend. Chandler 4-H Club will hold its annual Christmas party Dec. 4 beginning at 7 PM at Faith Baptist Church in Chandler. There will be fingerfoods and games. New members are always welcomed. On Dec. 15 Parkside Shores will start their Christmas Pa rade at 10 AM going through Parkside, then Twin Oaks Subdivision, and last, Sunrise Shores. Candy will be given out so please be by the street. The Volunteer Fire Department, County Commissioner, and Deputy Sheriffs will be participating. Silly City Daycare will have a New Year's Eve Ball at the Chandler Community Center. This is a black-tie event, with dinner being served at 7:00 PM. Single tickets are $15 and couples are $25. Lake Palestine United Methodist Church has collected the best recipes from group members, family, and friends and compiled them into an attractive, keepsake cookbook. They will begin selling them on Nov. 12. The cookbooks may be purchased from any church member, or at the church. All proceeds will go to the Angel Food Trailer Fund. The Disabled American Veterans & Auxiliary meets the 2nd Monday of the month at the Senior Citizens Center, next to the Fairgrounds on Hwy. 31 east in Athens.
