Open house for new Henderson County Chairman Republicans of Henderson County are meeting for an Open House at Republican Headquarters on the Square in Athens, on Friday, November 30th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. to welcome their new County Chairman, Don Geddie. Don Geddie was born in Athens, and remembers Athens in the `50s as "the best of all places." He left Athens in June of 1956 for college to become an architect. After "cramming a 5-year course into only 7 years," he graduated from Texas Tech in 1963 with his bachelor of Architecture degree. That same day he took a commission as a second lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers and two years later, after serving as platoon leader, construction officer and company commander, he returned to Texas. With his wife Cathy and daughter Angela, Don moved to Fort Worth where he worked for the City of Fort Worth Planning Department; General Dynamics Corporation as a Facilities Specialist; and, for several local architectural firms. While doing all this work, he went to school at night for a Masters of Liberal Arts at TCU and Master of Business Administration at the University of Dallas. There was also the Registered Architect, Registered Interior Designer and Licensed Irrigator going on as well. In 2002 Don moved back to Athens and is "glad to be back," living in the same house his family moved into when he was 13, and next door to the house where he was born. He is the proud father of three children (Angela teaches in Weatherford, Matthew teaches at the Health Science Center at Texas Tech, and John is a computer analyst for Fort Worth ISD), and a very proud grandfather of five grandchildren. We welcome Don to his newest challenge of leading the Republican Party in Henderson County as our County Chairman. We encourage all Republicans in Henderson County to come to the Open House to meet or renew acquaintance with Don. For more information call Ruby Fournet at 903-489- 3058. |
