St. Boniface Catholic
by Sue Beams

Jesus is King! On the Solemnity of our Lord Jesus Christ the King, members of St. Boniface Catholic Church heard of the reign of our Heavenly King. In the gospel Jesus revealed just what kind of King He is - all merciful! He uses His power to save. The thief on the cross acknowledged that he had been condemned justly. He asked to be remembered when Jesus came into His kingdom. Jesus proved His mercy when He tells the thief that he would "be with me in Paradise."

In his homily, Fr Jesse posed the question: "Is Jesus Christ the King of your life?" When things are going well in our lives it is easy to live that truth. However, when things are going less than perfect it is easy to lose sight of that same truth. Christ's reign is a conquest over the powers of sin and death -- His rule is redemption! We enjoy the love of His goodness and the might of His power.

Lord, our King, help us to live by your gospel!

Members are gearing up for the holidays at St. Boniface! There will be a Parish Advent Retreat in conjunction with the annual Our Lady of Guadalupe celebration on December 9th. This day-long event will begin at 8:30 a.m. with Reconciliation and continue through Holy Hour at 4:30 p.m. There will be a procession, video, time for reflection and prayer throughout the day.

The Altar Society will have a Christmas party at the home of Mary and Joe Hoffman on December 10, beginning at 6 p.m. Ladies are asked to bring a dish (finger food) to share and a $5 - $7 gift to exchange. Husbands are invited. Please contact Mary for information and directions.

Also in December, St. Boniface will hold a Christmas dinner. On the 16th members will enjoy ham and turkey (provided by the church) and are urged to bring a dish to share. Sign-up sheets are available in the community room. The Christmas Cantata will be held in conjunction with the dinner. Anyone interested in sharing a talent should contact Rachael Maldonado.

Congratulations and best wishes to those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. Our prayers are with those who are sick and suffering. We ask tht God, our Father take care of the faithful departed; may they rest in peace. We continue to pray for the brave men and women of the armed services who protect and defend our freedom.
