Hillary Shaffer named `Newcomer of the Year'
All-District and All-Henderson County volleyball teams announced

The final District 14-3A All-District volleyball team was recently announced as was the All-Henderson County volleyball team.
Brownsboro's Hillary Shaffer, a Freshman, was named to both teams as the `Newcomer of the Year'.
Earning first team honors in both teams was Bearette senior Amber Strickland. Chelsea Chimney earned first team All-District honors and Honorable Mention All-Henderson County.
Junior Naomi Scott was named to the All-District second team. No other Bearettes were named to either team.
Selected by the head coaches of District 14-3A Seniors Allison Sanders of Athens and Shannon Hullum of Van were named the District's MVPs. Most valuable hitter went to Calli Miller of Bullard, a junior; and Randi McClanahan of Van was named the most valuable setter.
Defensive player of the year went to Holly Eckert of Athens and Sarah Milewski of Van was named the most vaulable blocker. Coach of the year was Meghan Koonce of Van.
The Athens Daily Review's All-Henderson County Area Volleyball team's MVP was Allison Sanders of Athens. Coach of the year went to Tosha Spain, offensive player of the year was Holly Eckert both of Athens.
County defensive player was Katie Elledge of Cross Roads; hitter of the year was Miranda Groom of Mabank. County server of the year was Katie Cross of Mabank.
