Epperson earns District 14-3A defensive player of the year award

District 14-3A coaches released the All-District team after both Canton and Chapel Hill were knocked out of the playoffs last Friday.

Last season's District MVP Ryan Epperson was named the 2007 defensive player of the year in his final season with the Brownsboro Bears.

More awards are sure to come Epperson's way this winter as he decides on what college to attend next fall. Last season he was named the All-East Texas defensive player of the year by the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

Epperson finished his high school career with 523 tackles, including 168 this season.

Tristian Warren was named to the All-District first team offense at wide receiver. Warren is a junior. He was also named to the first team defense as a defensive back. David Rudd was also named to the first team defense at punter.

Bears earning second team offensive awards were; Jerqualyn Dora, Seth Martin, Chance Parks, Glenn Devlin and Monty Shultz. Honorable mention offense players from Brownsboro were Zack Bailey, Collin Wilson, Keith Johnson, Dustin Edgar and Will Jones.

From Brownsboro Daniel Suggs and David Rudd both earned a spot on the second team defense. Rudd was a defensive back while Suggs, a junior, was a linebacker.

Honorable mention awards went to Brad McDonald, Tyler Rogers, Damion Greene and Jared Bray.

District MVP was Jermie Calhoun. Offensive players of the year were Charlie Moore, Bullard; Casey Bell,Canton and Matthew Tucker, Chapel Hill.

Newcomer of the year was sophomore Lance Anding of Bullard. Coach of the year was Lance Angel of Canton.
