What's Happening Smith County Retired Teachers & School Personel Association will meet Tuesday, December 11 at 2 PM at the the Plyler Instructional Complex at 807 W. Glenwood in Tyler. Come and join us for, "A Christmas Celebration" presented by Johnnie Seastrunk, our Music Chairman. The Quilters Guild of East Texas will host their monthly meetings on December 13. The day meeting's social will be at 9:30AM and the meeting will begin at 10AM. It will be at Pollard United Methodist Church, 3030 New Copeland Rd, Tyler. Small groups will bring snacks in lieu of the Christmas luncheon. The musical program will be provided by David Luna. The evening meeting, will be the Christmas Party, which will begin at 6PM at Traditions Restaurant on 6205 S Broadway in Tyler. Show and Share, Guests Welcome. The dates for the CBACC December Noon Luncheons will be December 6 at The Shed in Edom, and December 20 at Presley's in Chandler. Parkside Shores will start their Christmas Parade on December 15 at 10 AM going through Parkside, then Twin Oaks Subdivision, and last, Sunrise Shores. Candy will be given out so please be by the street. The Volunteer Fire Department, County Commissioner, and Deputy Sheriffs will be participating. Silly City Daycare will have a New Year's Eve Ball at the Chandler Community Center. This is a black-tie event, with dinner being served at 7:00 PM. Single tickets are $15 and couples are $25. There will be a live D.J. and dancing. Tickets are limited and need to be purchased in advance by calling 903-849-5333. The Brownsboro Theater Angels are now distributing for Homemade Gourmet. Lake Palestine United Methodist Church has collected the best recipes from group members, family, and friends and compiled them into an attractive, keepsake cookbook. They will begin selling them on Nov. 12. The cookbooks may be purchased from any church member, or at the church. All proceeds will go to the Angel Food Trailer Fund. Story-time for pre-schoolers resumed at the Chandler Public Library beginning Thursday, Sept. 13, at 10:00 AM. Interested persons can call the library at 903-849-4122 for more information. The Kickapoo Creek Kiwanis meets at noon, each Wednesday, at Piggy's Too. The Chandler Lions Club meets every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month in the Chandler Community Center at 7pm. Meetings consist of dinner, meeting and a program. Anyone interested in giving back to the community through the Lions organization is invited to attend. The Disabled American Veterans & Auxiliary meets the 2nd Monday of the month at the Senior Citizens Center, next to the Fairgrounds on Hwy. 31 east in Athens. A covered dish meal is served at 6:30pm with the meeting to follow. All members and prospective members are urged to attend.
