Larry Stratton, Sr.

Services for Larry Roland Stratton, Sr., 73, Chandler, formerly of Old Bethel community near Canton, were held Monday at Eubank Funeral Home chapel, Canton, with Chaplain Carey Ponder and the Rev. Steve Glosup officiating.

Burial was in Old Bethel Cemetery, Van Zandt County.

Mr. Stratton died November 30, 2007, at his residence.

He was born September 19, 1934, in Palestine to the late Jerry and Trudy Roberta Grooms Stratton. He graduated in 1953 from Haskell High School in West, and served in the Army during the Korean War. He attended North Texas University and retired as manager of Ramp & Operations at Love Field for Braniff International Airways after 19 years service. He operated the Mini-Mart in Old Bethel community from 1971-77, and was a rural carrier for the Postal Service in Canton for 17 years. He was a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church for 27 years and current member of West Lake Baptist Church of Chandler.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Adell Stratton, Chandler; son, Larry Stratton Jr., Canton; daughters, Denise Stratton Hoch, Athens, Angela Reid and Pamela Neari, both of Winston Salem, NC, and Donna Ziegenhais, Bay City; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Walter Webster, James Ziegenhais, Jimmy White, Ted James, Ralph Parker and James Passmore.
