BJHS `A' teams claim tournament titles

All four `A' teams representing Brownsboro Junior High in the Brownsboro Junior High `A' team tournament played near perfect ball as they all won their bracket championship.

In the boys division the 8th grade Bears defeated Grace 33-27 in the opening round before defeating Brook Hill 44-38 for the title.

Keuntis Thompson scored a tournament high 17 points in the championship win. Willie Miller also scored in double figures (13) against Brook Hill. Brett Conner hit a 3- pointer against Brook Hill.

Seventh grade action saw the Bears defeat Grace 57-22 in round one before defeating Eustace for the title.

On the season the 7th grade `A' team is undefeated.

Ryan Chapman scored a tournament high 16 points for the Bears in the opening game against Grace. He also hit a 3-pointer against Eustace.

It was no surprise to the fans of the BJHS girls teams that the Bearettes dominated their tournament.

The 8th grade `A' team is undefeated this season as they defeated Canton 47-13 prior to the tournament, Eustace 50-3 in round one of the tournament and All Saints 32-7 for the tournament title.

LaQuesha Cooper scored a team tournament high 15 points in round one of the tournament. Y'niqua Mosley added 11 points in the first game. Against Canton the duo teamed up for 31 points in the win.

After falling to Canton 23- 15 on Monday the 7th grade `A' responded well in the opening game of the tournament defeating Eustace 49-10 before defeating All Saints 39-8 for the championship.

Jacobi Parker had a monster game in round one of the tournament as she scored a tournament high 24 points.

Prior to the tournament the 7th and 8th grade `B' teams played in Canton. The 7th grade won 18-12 as Brittany Willard led the team in scoring with 10 points.

The 8th grade `B' team defeated Canton 27-10 as Haley Surlet led the team with eight points.

The boys also played Canton prior to the tournament but results could not be found as of press time.

Brownsboro will be the site of the `B' team tournament on Saturday, December 15.
