This Sunday morning Bro. Tom preached to us from Isaiah 61, continuing his messages on unwrapping the gifts of Christmas. His message focused on the gift of purpose filled living. What is our purpose here during this life? What a question to ponder at this time of year.

This past week has been a busy one at LBC. Our children are busy preparing for the Nativity Program that will be held on Wednesday, December 19th in the gymnasium. The children are also preparing a special gift to be given to the residents of Bethany Place Nursing Home in Athens. The children will be leaving immediately following the morning services to eat pizza at Mazzio's and then on to the nursing home. The children will then return to the church for one last practice before the performance on the 19th. They will need snacks after the practice. There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer for parents to contribute items.

We are also going to be having Bro. Sam Varughese, missionary to India, speaking to us during our Sunday School hour this next Sunday morning, December 16th. Following his presentation, the choir will be performing the Christmas Cantata. We encourage you to attend and know that you will receive a blessing from the message they bring.

This week was a week filled with loss in our community. We extend our sympathies to the Dingler, Lewis and Cade families in their time of loss. Our prayers will be with these families during their time of mourning.

As always, there are lots of activities at this time of year. The ladies that attended the monthly ladies meeting as well as the ladies present for the ladies' Christmas Party had a wonderful time of fun and fellowship.
