Lake Palestine U.M.C.
by Barbara Cade

As Christmas fast approaches, the schedule at church seems to be getting more and more hectic. The choir made a little trip down to Noonday UMC last Wednesday night for a joint choir practice. On Saturday, their choir came to the lake.

We hear the Prathers have been trying to do a little Christmas shopping as have most of the folks in the congregation. I'm sure that's to get ready for the church Christmas party on Friday, December 14th. Everyone attending is asked to bring a ten dollar gift for a sort of white elephant exchange, only the gifts won't be white elephants.

We are glad to hear that Charles Jackson is doing better in the hospital in Dallas. Sue is still by his side. A whole lot of prayers are needed there.

Ken Cade's mother, Rose, has been admitted to the hospital for pneumonia and digestive difficulties. She seems to be doing well.

We were sorry to hear that Ken's cousin, Freddie Cade, passed away last week. His funeral was on Tuesday.

Everett Kuykendall is recovering slowly from his setback. He is now in the Chandler Nursing Center.

We were also surprised to hear that Martha Different had to make a little trip to the emergency room. So much decorating for Christmas caused her hip to really start hurting.

Debbie Miller's father is doing better. He has had some recent heart surgery.

Dale and Mary Ann Whisenhunt want to remind everyone that the pick-up for Angel Food this month will be this Saturday morning, the 15th.

This coming Sunday, there will be a change in the normal schedule of worship services. There will be only one service at 10 a.m. This service will include the children's Christmas program.

Next Sunday, the morning services will be as usual, but there will be a service at 7:00 p.m. that night featuring the adult choir and the Noonday UMC choir in a Christmas musical program.

On December 24th at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. there will be two candlelight services, and then on December 30 there will once again be just one service at 10 a.m.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Teena Blakeney, Susie Owens, and Kylie Harmon. Also, happy anniversary to Fred and Trudy Riddle and Jake White.
