New Edom Area Chamber of Commerce board member elected December 3
By Nathan Straus News Reporter

The Edom Area Chamber of Commerce met December 3 to go over finances and the status of special events and the Edom Volunteer Fire Depart- ment. In addition, the Chamber elected independent associate Lynn Warren as a new Chamber Board member.

Robin Marshall, secretary to the Chamber, said she put Warren's name forward.

"She's a very good worker," Marshall said, "very community minded. I don't expect she'll do a good job; I know she'll do a good job."

Dwayne Collins, chairman of the board, said he's known Lynn for quite a while.

"I think she'll do very well," Collins said. "She's energetic and personable, and we're always looking for new energy."

Warren, who lives about two miles to Edom, said the new job will basically entail her doing what she does best.

"I'm a stay-at-home grandmother, " Warren said. "I figured I had time to give to the community."

Warren also said she walks at the Edom Community Center Track every day and eats at Edom restaurants. She said she supports Edom by visiting all the fairs and events as well.

"I think my name was put forward because I'm always volunteering and showing dedication to Edom events," Warren said.

"I'm very proud to be elected," Warren said. "I feel like I can be a good person for the job, and it will help me become more involved in Edom."

Not only does Warren now work with the Chamber, but she also works with a nutritional supplement program called Mannatech.

"It focuses on the eight essential carbohydrates our body doesn't get anymore," Warren said. "I share it because I want to help people get well."

Warren was born in Tyler and moved around Texas as time passed. Two years ago she returned to East Texas; specifically, the Edom area, and settled in.

Though she does not know exactly what her new role entails, Warren said she is ready to serve the people of the arts community of Edom.

"I love Edom; it's a perfect little town, and I like the family feeling and friendliness best," Warren said.
