JV Bearettes claim another tournament crown

This season the Junior Varsity Bearettes have played in two tournaments. The final results of both tournaments found the Bearettes on the victorious end.

Brownsboro defeated Jacksonville 36-19 to claim the Jacksonville tournament title last Saturday in Jacksonville.

Hillary Shaffer led the team in scoring in the win over the Maidens with 14 points.

Prior to the tournament the Bearettes played host to the Rains Lady Cats and defeated them 41-31 last Tuesday.

Shaffer led both teams in scoring with 16 points while nailing the only 3-pointer for the Bearettes.

Chelsea Chambers scored a team high nine points in the Bearettes opening round win in the tournament.

Brownsboro tipped off against Cayuga to open the tournament and walked away with an easy 32-13 win.

From behind the three point line Chambers sank two shots in the Bearettes round two victory over Van, 43-19. She finished the game with a team high 11 points.

Shaffer and Nicole Pickett also scored in double figures against Van with 10 points each.

In the semifinal game the Bearettes defeated Carthage 43-16 as Shaffer paced the team with 17 points. Chambers hit two 3-pointers in the win while Jessica Caviness hit another.

Brownsboro improved to 12-2 on the season and will play against Gladewater on December 18 in Gladewater.
