St. Boniface Catholic On the Third Sunday in Advent members of St. Boniface learned of the marvelous things that God has waiting for us! Nothing is impossible with God! In recent Advent readings we have heard of the lamb laying with the leopard, the kid with the lion, and the ox eating with the lion. Impossible? Not with God! God assures us that no harm or ruin will come to us. Opposites attract; enemies reconcile; races can respect one another. What a beautiful prophecy! God shall judge not by appearance but with justice. He pours out His Holy Spirit with wisdom, understanding, counsel, strength, knowledge and fear of the Lord. Marvelous things will happen; things that seem impossible. The desert will rejoice and bloom and the glory of the Lord, the splendor of our God will be seen. His majesty comes in the form of a babe ...God with us...Immanuel. In the babe we have the fullness and splendor of God. It is to become as children that we will see the Lord. The weak, the lame, the blind - those who are most thirsty will see. He comes to save you and me. The church gives us the season of Advent to prepare and experience the fullness of the Godhead through His Son. Let us be filled with great rejoicing! Thank you, Fr. Eduardo for bringing us this message. We appreciate you and Deacon Steve Curry being here with us in Fr. Jesse's absence. On Saturday the St. Boniface kitchen was alive with the sights, sounds and smells of tamales being made! Under the guidance of veteran tamale makers, several `trainees' helped to produce ap- proximately 60 dozen tamales to be sold as a parish fundraiser. Yes, it was a lot of work, but those preparing the tamales enjoyed each other and had a tremendous time! Thank you to everyone involved! The weekday Mass schedule for this week is: Thursday, Dec. 20 at 6pm and Friday, Dec. 21 at 9am. Next Sunday, Dec. 23 the Sacrament of the Sick will be administered (at each weekend Mass) to those in need. This Sacrament is administered to anyone who is weak, facing surgery, has chronic illnesses, etc. This sacrament is to be received often. If you are unable to attend, please let Fr. Eduardo know and he will gladly make arrangements to bring the Sacrament to you. The parish Christmas dinner was a success! The food was delicious. The entertainment was delightful. The company was great! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this a blessed event. We will decorate the church for Christmas on Friday, Dec. 21st following the morning (9am) Mass. We need volunteers. We hope to complete the task in short order, however, if necessary, we will continue on Saturday morning to finish the decorating. Congratulations and best wishes to all who are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries this week. We call upon the Lord for relief for those who are sick and suffering. We remember, too, the souls of the faithful departed: May they rest in peace. We continue to pray for the brave men and women in the armed services who protect and defend us. May God bless each of you this week. |
