Downey graduates basic training

Chase Downey

Chase Downey made Chandler his place of residence one and a half years ago along with us, his parents. He attended school in Brownsboro in 1996 for a short time. Chase was in ECHO Company 3rd BN 34th INF Regt at Fort Jackson, SC, and graduated from Army basic training on November 2, 2007.

What made this a special graduation was the fact that our President was at Fort Jackson on business and decided to give a speech at our son's graduation. Not too many people who served can say the President spoke at their graduation from basic. We feel very lucky.

Chase is doing his AIT at The Aberdeen Proving Grounds outside of Baltimore, Maryland. He is with Bravo Company 143 Ordnance Battalion. His training is in Special Vehicle Recovery and Tracks. He has also signed up for The Army Sniper School. We are looking forward to this Sunday when he comes home for the holidays.
