Harl Sims Services for Harl Sims, 70, Chandler, were held Sunday at Chandler Memorial Funeral Home with the Revs. Keith Lough and Gaylon Taylor. Burial was at 1:00 p.m. Monday in Grace Memorial Cemetery, Santa Fe, Texas. Mr. Sims died Dec. 13, 2007, in a Tyler hospital. He was born June 22, 1937, in Galveston and had lived in the Chandler area 11 years and in Texas City nine years. He retired from the Army, serving in Vietnam, and as materials manager for UTMB. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and had served as state commander of the VFW in Oklahoma. He was a member of Sunrise Assembly of God. Survivors include his wife, Melba Joyce Sims, Chandler; sons, J.L. Sims, Santa Fe, and Harl Franklin Sims III and wife Tracy Lynn, of Santa Fe; daughters, Judy Lynn Burton, Marlow, Okla., Nicole Lee Tucker, Lindale, and Lori Lee Wilson, Chandler; brother, Robert Earl Sims and wife Waynette of Chandler; sisters, Sue Jane Perryand husband Ernest Ray of La Marque and Joyce Elaine Laskowskie and husband Floyd, La Marque; and six grandchildren. Family and friends served as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association and VFW Post 5400, 11230 Highwy 6, Santa Fe, 77510; 409-925- 2525. |
